The Bhagavad Gita, a timeless foundational scripture for yoga philosophy, provides lessons beyond the physical postures and into the path of self -realization.  This course is designed for the dedicated practitioner and teachers aspiring to deepen their understanding of yoga.  In depth study of this ancient text will broaden your knowledge into more advanced and complex yoga definitions. Going beyond academic and philosophical study, we will explore how profound the teachings of the Gita can be applied to your personal growth and will empower you to lead classes with greater depth, purpose and authenticity.

But which Bhagavad Gita should you read?
There are many commentaries and translations of the  Bhagavad Gita. The poetry’s framework and structure in all Bhagavad Gita translations is always the same, yet styles varies by the specific commentators explanations, perspectives and personalities.
Feel free to choose “your” Gita to study and behold. You may choose your Book based on your connection to a particular commentator, the look of the cover or the amount of pages it contains to study. All of these reasons are lovely.

A few we have found beautiful for different reasons are:
• Paramahansa Yogananda’s singular edition or two leather bound editions are excellent for those who enjoy in depth studies with Sanskrit  and technical details.
• Swami Satchidananda, The Living Gita, is perfect for those preferring side stories to reframe the original lesson in a gentle way.
• Gandhi’s Gita is a truly thoughtful piece that feels alive with a humble teacher guiding the story.
Also, audiobooks are  a great way to listen and learn!

Yoga Philosophy is a method of practicing self-control by restraining the mental activities from kleśas (afflictions). Then we can abide in the form of our choosing. Otherwise, we will identify with the mental activities (asmitā) and be controlled by them. The Yogasūtra offers many methods for restraining mental activities from afflictions. For mature practitioners: the continuous practice of samādhi (abhyāsa) & renouncing all afflictions (vairāgya). For intermediate practitioners: the uninterrupted practice (Kriyāyoga) of scorching afflictions (tapas), self-governance (svādhyāya) & devotion to Sovereignty (īśvara praṇidhāna). For beginners: the 8-Limb method (Aṣṭāṅga Yoga.) In this course you will learn about the origins of Yoga in the Kaṭhopaniṣad, the Bhagavadgītā, the Yogācārabhūmiśāstra, and the Yogasūtra. You will also learn how you can apply these insights in practical daily living and in teaching Yoga classes.

Breath is our most constant companion—and one of the most powerful tools we have to support health, energy, and clarity. In this workshop, we’ll dive into the science and practice of breathing.

We’ll explore:
• How breath balances the nervous system
• The difference between nasal and mouth breathing
• Anatomy of the respiratory system and how it supports us
• The distinction of “breathing more” vs “breathing less”
• Oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange in the body
• Pranayama practices and their benefits

Alongside practice and discussion, we’ll draw inspiration from James Nestor’s book Breath, which has sparked curiosity around how something so simple can change so much.
Expect a blend of learning, practice, and insight to help you understand your breath on a deeper level—so you can teach (and live) from a place of awareness and ease.

This weekend we will begin with an overview of bio-mechanics in relation to yoga.  We will cover how biomechanics and energetics are connected as well as how to take care of yourself and the student while working together.  We will discuss why therapeutics can be successful in a yoga classroom as compared to a gym or a place that you might have more access to props, such as a physical therapy setting. This weekend will be loaded with lots of tricks to help you understand things like knee alignment, hip pain, low back pain, shoulder injury, how to align the head and neck just to name a few.  Most importantly we will learn what is the most important thing about Yoga Therapeutics.
Joe Taft believes in the transformational power of yoga. Joe (E-RYT500) is a Certified Yoga Therapist who has dedicated himself to the practice of yoga since 1997 and has been teaching since 2001.

“Advanced Asana” doesn’t mean hollowback handstands, it means having function, freedom, and awareness in the ways we move. An advanced practice isn’t about aesthetics, it’s about cultivating deeper purpose and intention in our postures and transitions. Even child’s pose can be advanced!

A downward facing dog can hold all of our unconscious habits, or it can hold the archetypal potential of our truest self. Should you do a pose based on how you feel or based on alignment? How much should you bend your knees in a forward bend? What should I do with my back leg in a lunge? Should I tuck my toes in camel pose? We’ll explore all of this and so much more.

We’ll look at the bigger picture. Backbends open the frame for the lungs, forward bends help flush the kidneys, props offer scaffolding, adjustments offer new perspective, and breath invites the imagination. Yoga Asana isn’t just movement; it’s the embodiment of theory through practice. Our time on the mat is a metaphor for rest of our lives. An advanced practice transforms unconsciousness into consciousness, which changes everything.

Expect interesting dialogue, intentional practices, real-time feedback, effective adjustments, creative use of props, and time for Q&A. You’ll refine your practice, discover new approaches to familiar poses, and find joy through communal practice. We’ll break down alignment, transitions, techniques, and the reasons why we do what we do.

Trauma-Informed Yoga is an experiential 16-hour module within the 300-hour YTT program, offering a practical and embodied approach to understanding how trauma lives in the body, and how yoga can support healing. Taught by Courtney Chandler, LPC, ATR-BC, E-RYT 500, this training explores the impact of trauma on the nervous system and teaches you how to create intentional, empowering spaces rooted in safety, choice, and compassion.

This training includes how to design population-specific sequencing and incorporates elements inspired by trauma therapies such as EMDR and Parts Work, alongside somatic tools, breathwork, inclusive language, and nervous system regulation techniques. After years of teaching yoga, I began to notice there were very few yoga trainings offering strategies for creating a successful theme -based yoga class. I also began to understand how my own endless effort to create original and inspiring classes lead to notebooks full of ideas on how to connect yogic actions to a story, concept or even mythology. As a result, I created a 5-day training on how to align your core beliefs with seeing yourself becoming a teacher who has the confidence and persistence to plan inspiring yoga classes with your own unique themes. Often we are afraid to take ourselves out of our comfort zone and embrace challenges. In my opinion, the key to a successful yoga class is learning how to convey inspiring themes that not only uplift the students, but allow the teacher to continue to grow. This understanding of how our belief in the outcome of our success directly affects our performance is what educators, teachers, and neurologist are now calling growth mindset. In this training, you will learn how to achieve a growth mindset and apply these principles to your own lives in and outside the classroom. You will learn many techniques in how to improve your teaching and furthering your students, such as how verbal cueing directly connect to the overarching theme and the breath. We will dissect how the power of setting an intention or goal for your own practice, in your classes and in your life is practicing Yoga. You will leave this training with many examples of how to create a theme-based yoga class, but also how to approach every aspect of your life with the principles we will learn in training.

Authentic Brand Creation

• Build your unique teaching approach around what lights you up
• Amplify your uniqueness so students know what you offer

Presence & Connection
• Show up consistently in the studio, community, or online
• Build trust through conversations before/after class and local involvement
• Online presence = sharing who you are and what you value, not just yoga poses

Community vs. Online Growth
• Local growth: invest in community presence and relationships

• Both are needed for people to actually sign up
