Trauma-Informed Yoga is an experiential 16-hour module within the 300-hour YTT program, offering a practical and embodied approach to understanding how trauma lives in the body, and how yoga can support healing. Taught by Courtney Chandler, LPC, ATR-BC, E-RYT 500, this training explores the impact of trauma on the nervous system and teaches you how to create intentional, empowering spaces rooted in safety, choice, and compassion.
This training includes how to design population-specific sequencing and incorporates elements inspired by trauma therapies such as EMDR and Parts Work, alongside somatic tools, breathwork, inclusive language, and nervous system regulation techniques. Through a blend of movement, discussion, and real-world application, you’ll explore trauma-informed sequencing, mindful language and cueing, ethical and legal considerations, and sacred space holding. You’ll gain the tools to adapt yoga practices for diverse populations, including those navigating anxiety, grief, PTSD, addiction, and chronic stress, while staying grounded in your scope of practice.
This training qualifies you to become Trauma-Informed Yoga (TIY) certified, and offers 16 CE hours approved through Yoga Alliance. Whether you’re teaching in studios, schools, clinical settings, or community spaces, you’ll walk away with the skills and confidence to teach yoga and hold space for embodied healing with clarity, presence, and purpose.
